Columbus Blue Jackets @ Los Angeles Kings
At the end of the day, 2 points is 2 points. I know. But how you get that win should matter, especially when you’re up 4-0 and somehow the final score ends up being 6-4.
I usually don’t like faulting the goaltender, but in this case, there’s really no one else to blame. I can contribute 3 out of 4 goals against to Quick:
1st CBJ goal by Matt Calvert: instead of covering up, Quick tried to sweep the puck out and missed
2nd CBJ goal by Rick Nash: Quick slid way out of the goal crease leaving a wide open net
4th CBJ goal by Rick Nash: Quick mishandled the puck
… and people wonder why I cringe every time Quick decides to play the puck. EEK!
So while the Kings did win this game and have moved up from 12th to 8th in the Western Conference (and still have games in hand on 4 teams before them), Quickie can’t be making mistakes like these. The schedule for the rest of January and the month of February won’t be as forgiving to us giving away easy goals like tonight.
